CFOA Conference 2024

Concept Smoke Systems successfully exhibited at the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) Conference 2024, held on the 8th and 9th of May at the Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort in Trim, Co Meath. The event brought together fire service professionals from across Ireland to explore the latest innovations, challenges, and strategies in modern firefighting.

During the exhibition, Concept Smoke showcased its B1 battery-powered smoke generator to simulate an electric vehicle (EV) fire. Compact and highly portable, the B1 was hidden inside a vehicle mock-up and operated using a radio remote control. This allowed the team to create a highly realistic EV fire scenario safely and on demand, generating dense, non-toxic smoke to mimic the visual conditions of an actual fire.

The demonstration also included the use of an EV fire blanket—a key tool in managing EV-related incidents. The fire service illustrated the correct deployment procedure, showing how the blanket can be used to isolate and control an EV fire by smothering the flames and containing hazardous smoke and gases. Attendees gained hands-on insights into this increasingly vital response method as EV adoption continues to grow.

Concept’s participation in the CFOA Conference highlighted the importance of realistic training environments and tools in preparing first responders for emerging risks. The demonstrations were well-received, sparking valuable discussions around EV fire response protocols and the role of simulation technology in fire service training.
