In 2018, the Dartford Tunnel became the stage for “Operation Pluto”, a large-scale emergency exercise designed to test and improve the response capabilities of various emergency services in the event of a tunnel incident. A key contributor to the exercise’s authenticity was Concept Smoke Systems, a UK-based company specializing in the production of artificial smoke.
