Concept Smoke Systems provide Smoke Generators to Enhance Realism at UKRO Challenge 2018 in Caerdydd
Concept Smoke Systems proudly supported the UKRO Challenge 2018 by supplying specialist smoke equipment to South Wales Fire & Rescue Service, helping to heighten the realism and impact of this prestigious national competition. Held in Cardiff (Caerdydd), the UKRO Challenge brings together elite rescue professionals from across the UK to compete in demanding emergency response simulationsāmost notably the intense Trauma challenges.
Simulating Real-World Emergency Conditions
To create high-pressure, immersive scenarios, Concept provided two of its most versatile products: the Colt 4 Turbo and the B1 battery-powered smoke generator. These units were essential in replicating the visual and sensory challenges faced by first responders, particularly in confined-space trauma rescues.
The Colt 4 Turbo, a high-output, portable smoke generator, was used to fill large and semi-enclosed areas with persistent, dense smokeāsimulating fire and post-collision environments. In contrast, the B1, a compact, battery-powered unit, was discreetly placed within vehicles and props, enabling remote activation during live simulations to enhance unpredictability and urgency.
Positive Feedback from Organisers and Participants
Event organisers praised Conceptās contribution to the challenge, stating:
Your smoke generators are fantasticāthey certainly added to the fully immersive simulations that the competitors had to deal with. Now that the dust has settled on the UKRO Challenge 2018 Caerdydd, I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for your support in making the UKRO Rescue Challenge such a resounding success. The feedback that we have received from competitors, sponsors, patrons, spectators and Principal Officers has been incredible.
Championing Realism in Emergency Services Training
The UKRO Challenge is more than a competitionāitās a platform for learning, sharing best practices, and advancing the technical skills of firefighters and paramedics across the country. By contributing specialist equipment and expertise, Concept Smoke Systems helped ensure the 2018 challenge was not only a test of skill and endurance, but also a deeply realistic reflection of the environments rescue teams face daily.
Concept is honoured to have played a part in the eventās success and remains committed to supporting the emergency services community with cutting-edge training tools that bring simulations closer to real-life operations.
